Prior maps and their links
Keep the inheritance visible
These maps are not swallowed into one supposedly definitive graph. We retain every available source link in a separate comparator layer, say what its maker says it means, and show what has — and has not — been reconciled with The Necessary Tangle.
650 source nodes, all 1,320 reported major-influence links, and a cumulative reconciliation ledger.

The link contract
Preservation is not endorsement. A source link remains a claim made by that map. It enters the canonical Tangle only after identity, meaning and evidence have been checked separately.
| Layer | What a link means | Accuracy status | Canonical effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Map of Systemic Evolution | The source depicts a major influence in the arrow direction. | Source-reported; no edge-specific evidence or more precise type supplied. | None automatically. |
| Castellani image map | A clickable area points outward to the supplied URL. Drawn lines remain visible but untyped. | Retained as published; destinations not individually checked. | None automatically. |
| Counted Map | Source-title keywords and target cited-reference keywords co-occur above thresholds. | Aggregate has not been independently reproduced from the private corpus. | None automatically. |
| The Necessary Tangle | A typed, scoped statement with a source and review status. | Accepted, provisional, disputed or superseded as recorded. | Canonical relation only after review. |
Where this came from
The *Map of Systemic Evolution* was already present in Benjamin P Taylor’s SysCoI collection of prior maps and histories and registered in The Necessary Tangle. Nigel Williams’s contribution was the hard, useful next step: extracting and counting the GraphML, exposing its structure, comparing coverage, repairing the build and constructing a counted-map experiment. What remains deliberately unfinished
Other registered maps and bodies of knowledge remain in the comparator programme. Where a machine-readable link set is available and use is permitted, it should be retained in full under this contract. Where only an image or source page exists, the project preserves the complete source route and does not invent endpoints or meanings.
