Every source node and every source link is here. The makers describe the arrows as major influences between topics. We preserve that meaning while declining to pretend that each influence has been independently checked or more precisely typed.
What the source actually says
The URANOS page says that nodes denote topics — scientific work or research areas — and that directed edges illustrate major influences between topics. Its published colour legend classifies scientific realms. The GraphML carries no edge-specific label, citation or finer influence type, so that generic statement is the limit of what we import.
Read every line as “the source map reports a major influence”, not “The Necessary Tangle has verified this influence”. Colour identifies a realm; it is not evidence and does not tell us whether the influence was teaching, citation, derivation, collaboration or something else.

Cumulative reconciliation ledger
Five source nodes currently have a direct same-named concept or tradition match; 57 compound or narrower/broader nodes have at least one human-reviewed component match; 588 remain unresolved. Of the 1,320 source links, 47 have both endpoints at least partly mapped, 231 have one and 1,042 have neither. Only one mapped pair already has an independently sourced canonical Tangle relationship. No canonical relationship was created merely because this map draws a line.

Provenance, permission and credit
The published history records the map as originated by Eric Schwarz in 1996; extended in 1998 with material from Will Durant’s The Story of Philosophy; elaborated in 2000–01 for the International Institute for General Systems Studies; and extended in 2016 by Benjamin Hadorn. Benjamin Hadorn confirmed permission for this appropriate use on 25 August 2026. The source owners’ terms continue to apply.
The map was already in Benjamin P Taylor’s 2019 SysCoI prior-map collection. Nigel Williams extracted and analysed the GraphML and built the first comparator implementation; Benjamin P Taylor supplied the prior registration, permissions and editorial reconciliation.
